We pride ourselves on custom and personalised design. Our first goal is to understand our client's needs, desires, likes, and dislikes. The spaces we then create uniquely, beautifully, and functionally cater to our clients. Terris design process and aesthetic sensibilities are informed by being both a horticulturalist/permaculturalist and a professional artist, set decorator and special effects builder. She approaches an exterior space as an artistic setting that the users will interact with in their individual way.
GARDEN INSTALLATION
Proper garden installation is an art and a science. A healthy handful of soil contains more microbial life than our entire ocean, as well as various forms of insects, organic matter, and inorganic matter. A healthy plant is interacting in an ecosystem it likes made up of that soil, other plants, light, and weather. We know how to make all these components work together and make it look good at the same time.
GARDEN MAINTENANCE
We will keep your garden vibrant. We prevent, diagnose, and treat, challenges the plants face in every phase of growth. Soil analysis, soil amendment, fertilizing, pruning, weeding, deadheading, clean up, mulching, planting annuals - we do all that while working with the style /vision for the look of your garden.

PRUNING
Pruning requires an artistic eye as well as knowledge of how the timing and placement of cuts will affect a particular species. Whether the plant is a focus of the garden or part of a bigger picture, whether you want blooms or interesting shaping, we know how to keep your trees, shrubs, and bushes healthy and looking good.
GARDEN RENOVATION
Garden renovations require the designer to assess the existing plants, soil, light conditions, and the intent of the original design before establishing a new vision. Part of the fun is discovering the forgotten and interesting plants and rock work hidden by the overgrowth.

Wallace had the good fortune to learn Japanese style landscape rock work from Gerald Rainville, the foremost Japanese garden designer in North America.
WATER FEATURES
Water features are complicated. The designer must be engineer, technician, artist and horticulturist all-in-one. We have all of the skills sets required in-house to create beautiful, natural looking water features for you!
ARBOURS
Arbours are a great way to enjoy your outdoor space. They provide protection from the sun, a place for plants to climb and a structure to support hanging baskets.
Our arbours last for decades despite continuous exposure to the elements.
RETAINING WALLS
Whether its concrete, stacked blocks, dry stack stone, mortared stone, brick or timber you desire, we build retaining walls that are strong and look great.
PERGOLAS
Sometimes you want to be outside but need protection fromt the elements.
FENCES & GATES
Commerically available fence panels are designed in such a way that they trap water and promote rot. Exposure to water and dirt at ground level also causes the fence posts to rot away. At Skydale, we have developed fence designs that shed water instead of trapping it and techniques to prevent the posts from rotting. We also have our own unique methods to build gates that don't sag over time.
The gates, fence and arbour in these photos are seventeen years old. There is no sagging or rot anywhere. The paint is original. The centre post in the gate is removable so both sides can open.
GARDEN LIGHTS
Garden lighting allows you to appreciate your landscape even at night. We use light to create enchanted spaces, dramatic contrasts between light and dark, highlight the architecture of trees and shrubs as well as allow you to navigate the terrain safely.
PLANTERS & CONTAINERS
From designing the colour palate to selecting plants with the same sun and soil requirements we've got you covered. We can even custom build and install the planters and planter boxes.
CUSTOM PLAY HOUSES & TREE HOUSES
We love whimsy! Tell us your fantasy and we will build it.

This custom playhouse is modular. It can be dismantled into sections and moved. It is now at its third home with the same family! The boy in the picture is now a young man and plans to pass the playhouse on to his kids!

GARDEN SCULPTURE
Selecting the right pieces and understanding how to place them requires an artist's sensibility. The play of light, the colour and texture of surrounding plants and the style of the garden all must be taken into consideration. That's where having a garden designer that is also a professional artist comes in handy. You can even commission custom pieces.
WATERWISE GARDENS
Alberta is dry and the soil is highly permeable, yet there are ways you can have the garden you desire. Water wise gardening is one of our specialties.
